Christopher Johnson is first and foremost a playwright, most well known for his play The Dog Logs which has been seen in multiple productions all over Australia. His other recently produced plays include the comedies Barnesy, The Harbour and You, Backpacker! and The Young Tycoons.
Christopher has had a successful and mutually satisfying relationship with Darlinghurst Theatre since it opened its’ doors at 19 Greenknowe Avenue, Potts Point, Sydney, in 2001. The Dog Logs was the second play produced at the Darlinghurst, and, like both his other plays, was brought back for a return season. With seven seasons at the Darlinghurst, Christopher remains the theatre’s most-produced playwright by far.

The Darlinghurst Theatre is a fantastic venue and I’m so pleased to have been a part of it since it opened its’ doors. The people who work there are terrific, and Glenn Terry, who runs the place, is an amazingly dedicated man who truly aims for the best possible artistic successes at his theatre.
I suppose all of my plays are comedies of one sort or another, but within that broad definition they cross genres. The Dog Logs includes some very dramatic and even sad pieces; Barnesy is a cynical, biting relationship comedy, and Backpacker! is as much a thriller as a comedy. My newest play The Young Tycoons is a different breed again: I would say it’s a dark, cynical satire of the modern business world on kind of an epic scale!

All Christopher’s plays are available for production; to find out more, check out the play on its’ own page.
